Happy Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Hope everyone who celebrates is enjoying their Halloween!

I really wanted to attempt to carve a Hello Kitty pumpkin this past weekend. However, the East Coast got slammed with an unusually early snowstorm. I'm pretty sure the remaining pumpkins at the local farms did not survive. Well, at least I can enjoy my festive Hello Kitty beanies.

Hello Kitty as a bat and a witch! Aren't they adorable?

With this crazy weather and power outages all over, all of my Halloween plans were cancelled this past weekend. Let me know if you attempted any fun makeup looks for Halloween and what you dressed up as in the comments below!

Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain

My two best friends and I stopped in Ulta about two weeks ago. I was looking for a lipstain and my friend recommended Cover Girl's Outlast lipstains. However, I really wanted a red lipstain which unfortunately Ulta was out of in the Cover Girl brand. We checked out Revlon's lipstains which were on sale (buy 2 get 1 free). Plus, Revlon included a lip balm on the other end. We picked up three and split the cost three ways.

I chose Crave (berry) and Gothic (bright red).

Both are gorgeous colors. I especially like Crave for the Fall.

At first, it was kinda weird applying this lipstain because it was like I was coloring in my lips with a magic marker. However, I found it easier to "stay in the lines"/be more precise which is good considering it is a stain.

The pigment in these lipstains are great and you can build the color from slightly stained to full on lip color. I'm glad Revlon included a balm because as soon as you apply the stain you can feel the stain drying which makes your lips feel slightly tight/dry. The directions say to apply the balm 30 seconds after the stain.

I wore Gothic for about four hours before I had to reapply. The stain on my bottom lip looked good, I just needed a touchup on my top lip.

Left: Crave
Right: Gothic

The only downside to these are they really show even the slightest dry, chapped lips. The stain really sinks into these areas making the lip color appear blotchy and messy. I highly recommend exfoliating your lips before applying to get an even color.

Overall, I really like these lipstains. I'm new to lipstains, so if you have any recommendations on other colors or brands to try, I'd love to know!

Favorite Fall Polishes

A majority of the polishes I buy/own are considered Spring & Summer polishes.
Probably because I'm in love with Spring and Summer and can't help but be drawn to pretty pastels, brights, and neons.

However, now that Fall is here it's time temporarily retire those polishes and bring out some of the metallics, bolds, and jewel tone polishes.

Here are my favorites for Fall:

OPI in Rising Star
OPI in Golden Rules
OPI in Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous

September Favorites

It's officially October and soon it will be Halloween! Looking forward to dramatic Halloween makeup, pumpkin picking/carving, and candy corn (which I find are best consumed in small amounts).

There aren't too many new things that I haven't already talked about this month but here
are some things I've been loving during the month of September:

Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm
$2.99 at Ulta
I love the original Burt's Bees lip balm and can't tell you how many tubes I've gone through over the years. I decided to stray from my trusty original beeswax formula and picked up the Honey version. I am in love with this stuff. Sure it doesn't have the cool minty tingle the original formula has but it is much more moisturizing and has a sweet honey scent.

Too Faced Insurance Primer
$18 at Ulta, Sephora
I picked this up for half price ($9) during Ulta's 21 days of beauty because I've always wanted to compare it to my (holy grail?) Urban Decay primer potion. I've only had this primer for two weeks but I'm quite pleased with this primer so far.

One of my upcoming posts is comparing primers (Urban Decay, Too Faced, and Benefit's Stay Don't Stray) so make sure to subscribe!

Anastasia Beauty Express Brow Kit
$39.50 Sephora, Ulta

I've been using this kit the last 2 weeks and I can honestly say using the stencil is not getting any easier. With that said, I still like this kit overall.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Leave-In Conditioning Spray
$5.99 Ulta
This spray is not simply a leave-in conditioner but also detangles and has a built in heat  protectant. I love how soft it makes my hair and I totally see a difference in my hair when I use it vs. don't use it. This is probably my 8th bottle over the past few years, and they have changed the bottle (and perhaps the formula?) but it seems to keep getting better. Oh, and did I mention it's affordable too?

 Anastasia Eye Lights Matte
$21 Ulta
(mine was a free sample with purchase)
Benefit's Eye Bright is meant to "brighten the outer corners of the eye" but I also use it as a highlight underneath my brows. Anastasia's Eye Lights Matte is a soft matte highlight and much more natural than Eye Bright. Eye Bright is a pink vs. Anastasia which is a peach, slight pink color. Both are great brow highlighters, however, they each achieve different looks.

What were your favorites during the month of September?
